What do your dollars do?
The economy has certainly made things tight for most folks, now trying to do more with less and hoping that our jobs won’t be in the next round of cuts. Stretching our dollars and trying to provide the most to the residents of Troostwood is still a priority, in fact we hope to be able to provide more in these times scaling back. So how exactly do donations help?
Well, for starters, our Dumpster Days. Last year we were able to host not just one Dumpster Day like in years past, but two! Everyone looks forward to them and they sure fill up fast!
This newsletter. Over the years, newsletters seem to come and go depending on if the resources are there and when they aren’t, it’s one of the first things to go. Many of you remember getting the 49/63 Coalition newsletter mailed to your home each month. In an effort to fill that void, we are able to provide a quarterly newsletter that while not mailed, is delivered to your home.
Our Troostwood Neighborhood party, this year will be our 3rd Annual. We invite everyone in the neighborhood, friends, elected officials, leadership from both Rockhurst and UMKC. We provide a significant portion of the food, entertainment and activities for the children. Without donations, this event is not possible.
When working with Codes and vacant houses in the neighborhood, occasionally we have to help cover legal costs and fees. This helps keep our neighborhood looking good and our property values looking good.
Maintaing Troostwood Commons. Our park at 49th and Troost is a great place to take the dogs down to and run around with. Or to take the kids so they can run around and play in the evenings. Troostwood is currently in the process of acquiring ownership of the lots so that the area can be maintained as park space. Unfortunately there are costs associated with that too and while Stowers is gracious enough to maintain the grass, every now and then the raised beds need help too.
Wait, there’s more! Things like office supplies, printer ink and postage. This is just a short list how your dollars directly impact your neighborhood and the services we are able to provide to residents. And if you are unable to make a contribution, we’re always happy to have some new volunteers.
Volunteering is a BIG help and free too!
